The Open University nowadays is a dynamic, world-reaching organization. Long gone are the days of kipper ties on late night TV. When we joined LIDA, one of our first tasks was to make four fund-raising videos to sit on their social channels. This entailed wading through tons of footage and forming cohesive narratives out of all that.
This video focuses on the opportunities that an education can bring people, and how it can empower the disadvantaged and the forgotten.
Here, we’re addressing some of the greater challenges the world is facing today, such as climate change and people living longer. The OU is actively involved in intensive research in all areas of science to help make the world a better place.
Often overlooked is the fact that the OU is a very egalitarian beast, bringing the power of education to anyone who has internet access and an open mind. Their goal is to reach 50 million more students worldwide over the coming years.
In Western society, education is a natural assumption. Other parts of the world are less fortunate and the Open University is dedicated to reaching out to everyone in every corner of the world to help them on their way to a better future.
