For the launch of their new Sheffield store, we helped IKEA organise a series of events, giving inhabitants a taste of the company mantra – the Wonderful Everyday.
FIKA is basically Swedish for “elevenses”, so we set up a coffee cart to go round the city, doling out free coffee and buns. It ties in with one of IKEA FAMILY’s key benefits – free coffee or tea for all members when they visit an IKEA store.
One of the organised events was an outdoor barbecue in Weston Park. Eager visitors were given an IKEA FAMILY branded spork with which to eat their meatballs.
We turned the waiting room at Sheffield train station into a more comfortable area with fully stocked bookcases. We slipped IKEA FAMILY bookmarks into all the books, spreading the message.
Local artists were given the opportunity to show off their work in an underpass, all showcased in IKEA frames - one of the free gifts you can pick up when you join IKEA FAMILY.
One of the easiest ways of getting to the new store was by taking the Sheffield Supertram which went right by it. By taking a cue from the London Underground’s Poems on the Tube series, we created a number of poems to sit on the tram, all highlighting the benefits of being an IKEA FAMILY member.
